*As an MSW, RSW, my sessions are often covered by extended benefit plans

I work individually with adults and take a family approach to child & youth mental health.

I specialize in the following issues:

  • Anxiety

I help clients get to the root of their anxiety and learn how to feel safe again. Anxiety often shows up as racing thoughts, feeling overwhelmed or judged, feeling like you are constantly on edge, constantly worried, and/or constantly waiting for something bad to happen.

  • Depression

I help clients take the steps necessary to move through depression and feel alive again. Depression often shows up as feelings of low self-worth, isolating oneself, feeling heavy, tired, and sometimes, as if there is no point in going on.

  • Trauma and PTSD

I help clients understand the impacts of trauma, heal their nervous systems, and learn to trust in themselves and others again. Trauma has extensive impacts on our bodies and minds.

Trauma comes in many forms. Experiences of abuse, neglect, poverty, oppression, relationships with caregivers, and more can leave us vulnerable to anxiety and depression long after these experiences may have passed through our lives. We might feel constantly on alert or struggle to open up in our relationships. We might feel exhausted, worthless, or numb.

  • Behavioural and Emotional Issues

I help clients learn to soothe their nervous systems so they can feel confident in their inner world, emotions, boundaries, behaviours, and relationships. Whether in our children or ourselves, we can sometimes feel stuck… caught in a loop of “I’m fine, I’m fine, I’m fine” followed by an explosion of emotion. Alternatively, we might shut down, isolate, and seem to collapse in on ourselves.

  • Child & Youth Mental Health / Parenting Support

I support parents through their child’s mental health and behavioural challenges. Are you managing big emotions or anxiety in your child on a daily basis? Does every day feel like a power struggle? My approach to child & youth mental health involves helping families shift what isn’t working and lean into what is working. If you are concerned with your child under the age of 8, I always begin with parent work in order to support the child from an environmental and systemic perspective.
